Matthew Hartwick joins Watercrest Senior Living Group with 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Earning his bachelor’s degree at the University of Alaska Southeast, Matthew began his professional career in Washington, managing communities for the United Cerebral Palsy organization. In 2001, Matthew moved to Virginia, and with the subsequent passing of his grandfather, Wallace Wilson, on his mind, Matthew spoke with a nurse working in senior living. Two weeks later, Matthew began his own career serving seniors at an assisted living community in Virginia.
Over the past twenty years, Matthew has led award-winning teams in senior living earning the honors of ‘Turn Around Community of the Year’ and 9-time consecutive recognition for ‘Excellence in Leadership.’ He is a licensed Assisted Living Administrator and Certified Dementia Practitioner, attending regular trainings at the Virginia Assisted Living Association conferences, Department of Social Services, and Second Wind Dreams for Virtual Dementia Training.
Other healthcare and senior housing activities; past Executive Committee Board Member of the Massachusetts Assisted Living Facilities Association, a past member of The Assisted Living Federation of America as well as a past Executive Roundtable member of ALFA. A nationally known speaker at Mass ALFA, National ALFA, The Advanced Sales and Marketing Summit, The National Investment Center as well as past faculty for The Erickson School at The University of Maryland, (UMBC).
Matthew passionately believes in ensuring seniors are treated with the respect and dignity they each deserve.
Matthew and his lovely wife, Jackie have been happily married for 32 years, raising two beautiful and successful daughters. In their spare time, they enjoy spending time with family, gardening, hiking, and kayaking.
