ALICIA DIEKMAN

ALICIA DIEKMAN,
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ST. LUCIE WEST

Alicia began her career-long plunge into the senior industry over two decades ago, and has dedicated her professional life to the safety, well-being and care of seniors. She is grateful, every day, that diverse experiences throughout her career allow her opportunities to continue to advocate for and provide guidance and support to seniors and their families, no matter where she may be or what she may be doing.

After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Psychology from Florida Atlantic University, Alicia spent the first half of her career in social services, first working as a Client Advocate, bringing resources into seniors’ homes. Continuing down that path, she accepted a position as a Program Manager with the Area Agency on Aging of the Palm Beach/Treasure Coast, working with the Councils on Aging of Martin, St. Lucie, Okeechobee and Indian River counties to ensure regulatory compliance with state and federal funds for in-home senior services. Her employment with the Area Agency allowed her to amass knowledge about regulatory compliance for state and federal funding for home-based services for seniors, grant review, grant writing, contract compliance and to lead the invitation to join the staff of the Council on Aging of Martin County. This move afforded Alicia the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the folks living right in her own community, which gave her a tremendous sense of fulfillment and purpose.

Alicia cherished every year with ‘the Council’ because of the opportunity to take on new challenges and grow along with the always-forward thinking vision of the long-time Executive Director and the career-impacting support and mentorship of her COO. After eight years and four titles later, Alicia ventured into the unknown world of senior living and fell in love! Alicia has spent the past 12 years working in the senior living industry and has been an Executive Director for the past 10 years. She feels fortunate, every day, to have the privilege of being a part of the lives of her residents and their families and to have the gift of being able to make their lives better and bring them joy. Definitely the highlight and most rewarding experience of her career!

Alicia has been happily married to her best friend, Boyd, for 21 years. They live in Port St. Lucie with their three Chihuahuas and look forward to their son’s visits home, from University of Florida, where he is completing his 2nd year of law school. Their free time is very ‘family oriented’ and spent floating or boating, watching movies, having game night, or just getting together to relax, enjoy some good food and remember how much they have to be grateful for!

“I’m blessed to have a job doing what I love and to have such amazing people in my life that bring me so much joy and happiness!”
