theresa connor,

director of clinical services

Theresa knew from a very young age she was destined to care for and help our seniors. As a toddler, she was blessed by Mother Teresa and has spent her entire professional career serving the older adult population in several capacities. Theresa is a geriatric and medical-surgical nurse with 24 years’ experience including 18 years in senior living. Theresa began her nursing career as a medical-surgical nurse after receiving a full scholarship to nursing school. Theresa became an entrepreneur in 1997 when she started her own assisted living which served the needs of low income seniors for 16 years. Her senior group home became a model for provider service and quality of care and was recognized by her county for excellence in service to seniors.

After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 2010, Theresa served as adjunct faculty for a college program preparing nursing assistants. She became very active in issues affecting seniors including working towards improving awareness of the growing need to meet the needs of seniors with cognitive impairment. In 2013, Theresa became Health Services Director for a senior living for 168 apartment community. Theresa led her team of nurses, medication technicians, and care givers in elevating her community to the top performer 2 out of 4 years and runner-up the other two years, an accomplishment which had never happened to this community before.

In 2017, Theresa completed her Master of Science in Nursing program. Theresa holds a clinical administrator certificate as well as certificates for Nurse Case Manager, dementia provider and training, assisted living manager, Alzheimer’s Association Trainer, and the Florida CORE certificate. Theresa continues to reach out to seniors and their families through community speaking engagements to inform them on health issues of importance to older adults and to the families and loved ones who care for them.

Theresa is honored and truly excited to be joining the team at Watercrest. She feels that she shares a passion for servant leadership values with Watercrest and its commitment to excellence in senior living. Theresa believes in helping seniors through a holistic approach, creating a mind, body, and spiritual connection that improves quality of living and a deeper engagement in all senior living should offer. Theresa is a new resident to Florida and lives in Port Saint Lucie with her husband of 28 years, Sean, and son, Chris. Theresa’s three other children, Kyle, Kevin, and Catherine, are all active duty military with her daughter currently deployed in the Middle East. Theresa also is proud to welcome her new daughter-in-law Kira to her family.
