michele thompson, chief operating officer

Michele Thompson brings over 15 years of accomplishment to Watercrest

Senior Living Group in her role as Chief Operating Officer. Upon graduating

from the University of Florida, Michele engaged her passion for serving seniors

while working with dementia care residents.  Selected as a Champion for Arden

Courts Circle of Care program, Michele’s thirst for knowledge and dedication to

quality drove her to become a Support Group Facilitator through the National

Alzheimer’s Association and subsequently a National Certified Dementia Practitioner.

"Serving dementia care residents became my passion as I wanted each resident to

have a sense of purpose and belonging," says Thompson. “Applying my education

in therapeutic recreation to the real life needs of seniors gave me a purpose and

platform to make a difference.” Michele’s efforts to make a difference did just that,

resulting in career opportunities to expand her platform and reach more seniors.

As an Executive Director of Assisted Living and Memory Care communities,

Michele took multiple low occupancy communities to 100%, exceeding bottom line

budget expectations. "The successes I have been a part of were made possible

by the passion and teamwork of individuals I have been fortunate to work with,”

says Thompson. Her natural talent for developing highly effective teams,

modeling outstanding customer service, and truly being a trusted advisor to

residents, families and associates has driven successful financial performance

for leading companies such as Brookdale, Horizon Bay, HarborChase, and Arden

Courts.

As the National Director of Dementia Services and then Vice President of

Operations of a regional operating company Michele oversaw 17 communities

located in Florida, South Carolina, Michigan and Alabama. During her tenure, she

received 2 SERVANT Leadership awards, the first for community performance,

the second for associate mentorship as a Florida Approved Assisted Living

Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders (ADRD) Trainer.

Michele is married to her husband Tim and has three beautiful daughters Jilian,

Madison and Hannah. She is currently working towards a Master’s Degree in

Aging Services Management.
